Concert in Carson area promises rocking time

A concert is coming up in the Carson area that should prove to be a great time for everyone.

Two bands, the Hot Snakes, and Kills Birds, will perform at Alex's Bar in Long Beach, a short distance from Carson.

The Hot Snakes were founded in San Diego in 1999, led by John Reis and Rick Froberg, who had performed together before in Drive Like Jehu and Pitchfork. In 2005, Hot Snakes disbanded, but got back together in 2011. They cite Michael Yonkers Band, Suicide, and The Wipers as having influenced them.

A review of Hot Snakes live says the band went full out from the beginning of the show, and

“ . . . their hour with us [was] for the most part just constant face-melting from the off, like having a hair dryer put on full whack and aimed directly at your face. Don’t change, Hot Snakes.”

Kills Birds is just getting started, but is already getting a lot of attention. One review says Kills Birds is

“the rock band we need right now… [the band] illustrates explosive and gritty rock on the cusp of a new punk explosion that is running through the Los Angeles music scene right now.”

The bands appear March 1, starting at 7:00 pm, and will play until midnight. Alex's Bar is on East Anaheim Street. Flyer printing can help create handouts advertising shows like this.
