The International Printing Museum will host a full-day educational event for Boy Scouts this June.
The event will be focused on fulfilling requirements for two merit badges—Graphic Arts and Pulp and Paper. The program is limited to registered Scouts and includes structured, hands-on experiences led by educators and professionals from the paper and printing industries.
Throughout the six-hour session, Scout participants will rotate through 10 activity stations covering topics such as offset lithography, screen printing, paper recycling, and graphic design. Scouts will operate historical and modern printing equipment, including offset and letterpress machines, and create custom projects such as screen-printed T-Shirts and handmade sheets of paper.
The course is designed to fulfill all requirements for both merit badges within a single day. Activities emphasize technical skills and environmental awareness, including instruction on sustainable forestry practices within the paper enterprise. Each session is led by instructors with expertise in their respective fields, offering Scouts direct exposure to industry practices and history.
The participation fee is $71.21 per Scout, which includes a $6.21 service charge. The base fee of $65 covers all required materials and merit badge activities. Lunch, snacks, and event T-shirts are available for purchase on site. Space is restricted, and advance enrollment is required.
The event takes place on Saturday, June 21, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the International Printing Museum, 315 W. Torrance Blvd, Carson.
