The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson will be hosting its ‘Cool Summer Nights’ with a lineup of programs, all carrying family-friendly and desert-related themes, on Saturday evenings through the end of August.
Events start at 6:00 pm and run until 10:00 pm. The museum has most likely used flyer printing to inform people in the community about the special events so as to build enthusiasm and bring out attendance.
On July 5, at the museum’s Warden Oasis Theater, Desert Electric will demonstrate how powerful lightening can be during monsoon season, and how other phenomena can light up the evening sky.
The Saturday after, there will be a Full Moon Festival with a different perspective on lunar activities, as well as a free photography workshop and art class. The Tucson Pops Orchestra will have its Tucson Young Musicians performing and entertaining kids while they take part in a black-light art activity.
July 19 is Insect Insanity night with an opportunity to get a close-up view of desert insects presented by Dr. Carl Olsen, who is a bug specialist from the University of Arizona.
People can eat at one of three venues on the 21 acres of the museum. Upscale dining is available at the Ocotillo Café with savory Sonoran recipes, while more casual dining can be found at the Ironwood Terraces Restaurant. The other option is a ‘build-your-own’ ice cream sandwich available at the Cottonwood Snack Shack.
