What's Happening in Scottsdale, AZ…

Wright sites exchange virtual visits

The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy and the Unity Temple Restoration Foundation have joined forces in creating virtual visits on media websites.

Taliesin West at 12621 N Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. here in Scottsdale continues to go online with 10-minute Social Distance tours on Facebook. Emily Butler gives a tour of the Wright’s personal garden. Director of Preservation Ryan Hewson has a video about Wright’s living room at the Taliesin Estate in Wisconsin.

A Wright Virtual Classroom is also available, where classes cover topics such as impact of color.

Chris Jason, the Foundation’s Education Manager has created a Virtual Book Club for kids with links to purchase the books.

Taliesin Talks is an online interactive weekly series. The first two topics have been Values-Based Preservation and Theatre in Historic Spaces. Also in May, Jeff Goodman and Ken Harman will present Showcasing Spoke Art, an exhibition of international artists shown in the Foundation’s Spoke Art gallery. For June 4, the topic will be about extra-terrestrial habitat architecture and extreme environments. Further talks are being planned for summer.

The talks are first livestreamed on Facebook and afterwards available as videos on the Facebook page.

A new speaker series called Taliesin Next will feature speakers that will present their diverse perspectives on how the future can be informed by Wright’s legacy. These online events are included in the museum’s brochure printing.
