Scottsdale to host rugby and ballooning

In a couple of weeks, The Mercedes-Benz Of Scottsdale will be presenting its third annual Fiesta Bowl Rugby and Balloon Classic. This event will feature well known collegiate rugby players in competition attracting thousands of spectators.

The venue will have two championship games. The first will be the D1 High School Championship between Desert Vista and Red Mountain. Following that will be the D2 High School Championship match between Old Pueblo and Northern Arizona. This year, the featured match will be between the Men’s Rugby team from Arizona State University and the Mexican National Rugby Union team.

After the matches there will be a hot air balloon glow. The organizers promise that along with the usual popular hot air balloons, the event will display some truly unique designs. For example, two of the balloons will be Star Wars characters Yoda and Darth Vader. For those who do not want to go to the matches, tickets can be purchased for just the glow.

As poster printing will no doubt be advertising, the event will take place tomorrow, April 23, at the Scottsdale Stadium, 7408 E. Osborn Road, Scottsdale. Gates will open at noon.

The first match will start at 2:05 pm, the second is scheduled for 3:30 pm, and the last one will start at 5:10 pm. The Hot Air Balloon Glow will go from 7:00 until 8:00 pm.
