Scottsdale to celebrate 15th annual local festival

This year’s Scottsdale International Film Festival will be celebrating its 15th year early next month.

The 2015 lineup will feature 41 films from more than 30 countries. Genres will include romances, documentaries, comedies, thrillers, and dramas.

Opening night will feature two documentaries. One will be Landfill Harmonic and the second will be a concert by Paraguay’s Recycled Orchestra of Cateura. Seven special guests during the festival will include award-winning documentaries producers such as Robert Aberlin, Kate Beis, Nestor Rodriguez, and Juliana Penaranda-Loftus, as well as documentary film directors Alejandra Amarilla, and Rosemary Rodriguez. Budding directors and producers will want to bring their digital business cards.

Tickets will be $5 for children and $12 for adults. Opening night reception and screening tickets will be $39. VIP passes and a Build-a-Package option will also be available.

The festival will be begin on the evening of Thursday, November 5 and conclude the Monday after. Opening night will begin with a reception that the Dayton Fowler Grafman Atrium at The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. The evening will begin at 6:00 pm with the film screenings beginning at 7:30 pm in the Virginia G. Piper Theater. The Q & A session will follow at 9:00 pm. The other 39 screenings for the rest of the event will take place at the Harkins Shea 14 Theatre at 7354 E. Blvd, Scottsdale.
