What's Happening in Scottsdale, AZ…

Scottsdale to be part of annual Native American Games

Scottsdale will be one of the locations that will be presenting the Lori Piestewa National Native American Games (LPNNAG) in a couple of weeks.

Each of the seven locations will be hosting one or more of the seven athletic events – track and field, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, cross country, youth baseball, and slow-pitch softball. These games are part of the larger Grand Canyon State Games. Annually, the LPNNAG series has over 3,000 participants and crowds of over 7,000.

Scottsdale will be hosting basketball games. One series of games will be for boys and girls from fourth grade through 12th grade. The adult division will be divided into four categories.
Men’s A will be competitive and for those males 18 and over. A Men’s B game will be for recreational purposes only. An older team will be made up of men over 35, and there will also be a Women’s Competitive game. Teams will be made up of five, and games will have 20-minute halves with a two-minute half time. National High School Federation Games Rules will be in use.

Spectators may want to bring some banners with them to show support for their favorite athletes.

The Scottsdale games will be July 15th through 17th at the Salt River Recreation Center, 1880 North Longmore Road here in Scottsdale.
