Scottsdale supports the arts by eating
The Scottsdale Culinary Festival is coming in mid-April. The two-day event will be a fusion of music, food, and fun to raise funds for community art programs.
A total of 35 Arizona restaurants will be serving treats, and four local beverage establishments will be setting up gardens, decks, and a lounge for adult beverages. There will also be a wine and chocolate sampling station. A Family Fun Zone will have games and activities for all ages.
Terri Nunn and Berlin will be the headliners on Saturday night on the Artois Main Stage. Other acts on that stage during the day will be Wyves and The Black Moods. Calumet will play the following afternoon. Other performers will be on the Cactus, Main, and Four Peaks Beer Garden stages.
Cactus Fruits-Chmachyakhaka will be a discussion about foraging for food in the desert. Mark Lewis will present a slide show along with a discussion on nutrition taxonomy and flavor of cactus.
Zak’s Chocolate will have a talk about how craft chocolate goes from bean to bar. Other demonstration topics will be fermented vegetables, Mexican Chorizo, Cannoli and Cassata Cake, dairy dishes, tea, and herbs and spices. Speakers at events such as this usually carry business cards for anyone wishing to contact them later.
The Scottsdale Culinary Festival will be Saturday, April 13 from noon to 9:00 pm, and April 14 from noon until 6:00 pm at Scottsdale Civic Center Mall.
