Scottsdale runs for St. Jude
Volunteers and runners in the Scottsdale area are gearing up for this year’s free St. Jude 5K Walk/Run coming in late September.
Individuals, teams and local companies are signing up and getting funding for the upcoming event. Some local companies with teams that have already registered are ON Semiconductor, Target, Greystar, American Airlines, and Tri Delta.
Participants will receive official event items when they reach certain fundraising levels. For example, the runners that reach the $100 level will receive event t-shirts featuring the red, white, yellow and green event’s logo design. At the $250 level participants will get either long sleeve competitor tee shirts or patient art tumblers. Other awards will be at the $500, $750, $1000, $2500, $5000, $10,000 levels.
Volunteers that work in the main festival area will also receive special tee shirts sporting the event graphic design.
Although the walk will be free, those runners 6 years and older wishing to be timed will need to pay $20 at registration.
The St. Jude Walk/Run Phoenix is part of the Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and proceeds will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As we all know, this hospital does not require payment for food, housing, travel or treatment from any families of children it serves and is committed to finding the cure to all childhood cancer.
The run will be Saturday, September 28th from 6:00 am until 10:00 am at Westworld Scottsdale, 16601 N. Pima Road.
