Scottsdale plays for charity
Many Scottsdale dodgeball and softball players will be turning out to support two charities in a few days.
The Healing Foundations Center, Newport Academy, and the Scottsdale Providence Recovery Center are hosting a Holiday Toy Drive and Dodgeball Tournament. Guests are to bring wrapped toys that will be donated to Toyland at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and wear their favorite Christmas sweaters to enter the Ugly Sweater Contest.
The Holiday Toy Drive & Dodgeball Tournament will take place Tuesday, December 19th at the Indian School Park, 4289 Hayden Road Ramada 7. Admission will be free, but signing up on the event’s website is advised.
As well as this, for $50 to play and $10 to watch, softball enthusiasts can attend a slow-pitch Softball Game Tournament that has been organized to benefit Make-A-Wish Arizona. This year’s goal will be $3,650.
Bats and softballs will be provided but players must bring their own mitts.
East Starlight Way Chaparral Park Softball fields will open at 1:00 pm for warmups. Opening ceremonies will be held at 1:30 pm with the game starting at 2:00 pm. A 7th inning stretch will take place from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm. The game will end around 4:00 pm.
The Make-a-Wish Softball Game will take place Saturday, December 16th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Groups that frequent events like this often have team shirts featuring a funny graphic design made.
