Scottsdale honors local movers and shakers

Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with its Past Presidents Council, will be holding its 26th Annual History Hall of Fame in early May. The event is to honor those local organizations and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to the City of Scottsdale over the years.

One honoree will be Ken Harder for his work as Scottsdale Area Chamber past chair, his efforts with Scottsdale Charros Baseball, and service on the City Commissions and Boards over the years. Jeff Meyer will also be honored. Meyer is presently a business owner, Cactus League president and has been involved with the Charros. Bob and Renee Parsons will be honored for their locally based philanthropist organization, and Mr. Parson’s media, retail and hi-tech businesses.

One award will be given posthumously to Jim Wellington for his work as a volunteer, civic leader, and board member of the Scottsdale Unified School District.

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community will be honored for its environmental programs, tourism, health, wellness. and higher education initiatives and economic vitality. Ice cream parlor/restaurant Sugar Bowl will receive the business honors.

Businesses like to give tickets to events such as this as corporate gifts. It will take place Thursday, May 9 at McCormick Ranch’s Scottsdale Resort, 7700 E. McCormick Parkway starting with a Cocktail Reception from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm on the Sunset Plaza. The Program will run from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
