What's Happening in Scottsdale, AZ…

Scottsdale gets ready to ride

For the 12th year, bicyclists from around the region will soon get to participate in the Tour De Scottsdale, an event featuring a 70- and a 30-mile route through the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

Hosted and organized by the DC Ranch, the bike tour will benefit the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, an organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

The event has been capped at 2,000 cyclists, so interested parties need to register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Corral staging is the format for the event, with Corrals 1 and 2 reserved for seeded riders. Corrals 3, 4 and 5 will be open. Starts will be in waves with wave one starting the 70-milers and wave 2 reserved for the 30-milers. Families and friends of participants may want to get some banner printing done to cheer on their athletes along the route.

Since there will be no qualifying stages or age limits, the two courses are open to cyclists of all abilities and ages. Event jerseys will be available both upon registration and through the team store. All cyclists will receive completion medals after crossing the finish line.

Both races will start (and end) at the intersection of Thompson Peak Parkway and Pima Road on DC Ranch’s Market Street on Sunday, October 11. The 70-mile will start at 6:30 am with the 30-mile starting right behind at 6:40 am.
