Scottsdale celebrates season at local concerts

Many Scottsdale music enthusiasts will be spending part of their holiday season at Symphony Hall and other locations around Scottsdale enjoying special concerts.

The Phoenix Symphony will take the stage at Symphony Hall for its annual Holiday Pops concert this Friday, November 29 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, November 30 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm, and Sunday, December 1st at 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Broadway vocalists Gary Mauer and Scarlett Strallen, Phoenix Symphony, and Phoenix Symphony Chorus will present popular seasonal favorites, and the audience can join them in the traditional singalong.

On December 6 and 8, the Phoenix Symphony Chorus and Phoenix Symphony, under the baton of Stuart Chafetz, will present “Home Alone” in Concert also at Symphony Hall. The movie will be projected on a giant screen suspended over the orchestra. The John Williams score will be enhanced by live music.

Soprano Yulia Van Doren, tenor Norman Shankle, countertenor Daniel Taylor, and bass-baritone Rickard Ollarsaba will be special guests joining the Phoenix Symphony and Chorus at the Handel’s Messiah on December 11 at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts. Conductor for the evening will be Matthew Kasper, and the performance will begin at 7:30 pm.

Many businesses often give tickets to events such as these as corporate gifts to their high-end clients and top employees.
