Railroad Park plans summer concerts
A group of 10 free Sunday evening summer concerts are, at the time of writing, being planned for Railroad Park in Scottsdale.
However, since the first of these is due to start this weekend, it would be advisable to checking listings for the latest.
Five groups are scheduled for May in total. A Bruno Mars Cover band, Uptown Funk, will start things off this Sunday, May 3. Groove Merchants and its horns will bring the big city sound the following week on May 10. They will be followed the next weekend by retro ‘80s music provided by Rock Lobster. The next two Sundays will feature a variety of top 40 music by The Real Thing on May 24 and Neon on May 31.
Four bands will perform in June. Piano Men on June 7 will pay tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel, and an Eagles tribute will be performed by One of These Nights on June 14. The JJ’s Band will play top 40 tunes on June 21 and ABBAFAB! will take the stage on June 28.
The last performance for the season, on July 5, will be Mogollon, a high-energy country band. After this concert, there will be a fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day weekend.
Fans of bands that play at events like these often ask for promotional products from them at intermission.
The 90-minute performances will begin at 7:30 pm and wind down around 9:00 pm. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets and relax on the grass. There will be food for sale, and kids can ride the train and the carousel for $3.
