Black rodeo returns to Scottsdale
The 13th Annual Arizona Black Rodeo will be coming to Scottsdale at the end of September.
The mission of the rodeo is to celebrate the rich African American and Black culture and history. The action-packed event will feature nationally acclaimed African American rodeo competitors in bull riding, steer wrestling, ranch bronc, tie-down roping, ladies’ relay races, steer undecorating, and barrel racing, along with mutton busting and calf scramble for the kids.
The fun will begin with a grand entry parade when fans can get their first glimpse of rodeo participants and view the presentation of Black cowgirls and cowboy history. Guests may get up and dance with the live DJ, and food at concession stands will be available for purchase.
Many Black rodeo fans will be purchasing Western items such as belts, bandanas, and hats featuring the rodeo's "Hottest Show on Dirt" logo design, and then have their pictures taken wearing their newly purchased clothes at the photo stations located around the venue.
Bleacher seating will be $25, arena bowl seating is $30 and $50 at the gate, limited open-air suite will be $150, and limited seating for four in a suite will be $500.
Shows will begin at 7:00 pm on Friday, August 30, and at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Saturday, August 31 in the indoor arena at WestWorld of Scottsdale, 16601 N Pima Road.
