Mesa cat enthusiasts attend Cat Fest

The third yearly Mew-seum Cat Fest will be coming to Mesa in mid-March.

The event honors Cat People of the Outer Regions, a large, fantasy, art collection by Karen Kuykendall that is a popular permanent installation in the Mesa Historical Museum.

Guests can look forward to cat-themed crafts including a make-and-take cat toy workshop. Local vendors will be selling cat-related services and items, experts will give educational talks with feline topics, local rescues will bring cats up for adoption, food trucks will be onsite, and the chance for visitors to enjoy the cat art collection.

The collection is a series of hand-crafted humanlike cat dolls set in dioramas that depicts characters, environments and scenes; paintings displaying five Queendoms (Sapphire, Diamond, Ruby, Emerald and Topaz) that she has invented along with mixed-media works. Cat people sculptures are arranged in various poses that resemble servants, dancers, businesspeople, and other everyday Queendom occupations.

Food vendors that sell every year at events like this often have local printing services Print small event-related characters, logo designs or graphic designs on their paper products- napkins, plates, and head covers.

The Mew-seum Cat Fest 2026 will take place Saturday, March 21 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Mesa Historical Museum, 2345 N. Horne. Cats with owners are welcome. Admission is free and will include access to the fest and to the museum.
