Mesa honors veterans with ruck

Many Mesa hikers wishing to honor veterans will be taking part in an 8-mile Memorial Day Ruck coming in late May.

The Memorial Day Ruck, put on by veteran-owned Cider Corps, will have the theme "Honor, remembrance and community" and the pace for the long walk will be group-led and casual. Weighted rucksacks will be optional.

The eight-mile hike will begin at The Shop Beer Co., 922 W. 1st Street in Tempe with a meet-up at 7:00 am. After a group photo and safety brief, the ruck will step off at 8:00 am walking toward Tempe Beach Park. Once the group arrives at Ash Avenue Bridge around 9:00 am, everyone will rest, get hydrated and take another group photo. From 10:00 am to 11:30 am, the group is scheduled to arrive at Tempe Town Lake and follow the multi-use path on the north side. The route will then take hikers into Mesa using the Rio Salado Parkway corridor and continue the final phase into Downtown Mesa.

Around noon, the ruck will end at the Cider Corps Taproom, 31 S Robson where there will be a post-ruck gathering.

Photos taken on hikes like this are often taken to local Print shops to be added to family newsletters or Calendars or duplicated for each hiker to have their own copy.

The Memorial Day Ruck will take place Monday, May 25th from 7:00 am to noon.
