Thrash metal torchbearers to rock Mesa

The Nile Theater in Mesa is hosting a concert by Flotsam and Jetsam this September.

After being active in the thrash metal scene for four decades, Flotsam and Jetsam continues to have a prolific output of new albums to this day. Their latest and 16th album, Rats in the Temple, comes out tomorrow (August 28). It follows the trio of the 2019 album The End of Chaos, followed by 2021’s Blood in the Water, and 2024’s I Am the Weapon.

Ever since their debut album, 1986’s Doomsday for the Deceiver, the band has continued to evolve in both lyrical and musical content. Founding member and lead singer Eric “A.K.” Knutson says that despite the band’s lineup going through changes over the years, they continue to strive to make each album better than the last through a collaborative process.

The current band also consists of drummer Ken Mary, bassist William Bodily, and the guitar pair Michael Gilbert and Steve Conley.

Flotsam and Jetsam’s current tour includes not only many North American performances but also circuits in Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. Metal concerts like this may choose to use printing services to create merch table labels, vendor Signs, and marquees.

Flotsam and Jetsam is performing on Saturday, September 5 from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Nile Theater at 105 W Main St in Mesa.
