Mesa prepares for holiday 5k
Many runners here in Mesa will be heading to the Leisure World Santa Run 5k/1 mile in early December.
The course for the 5k will be fast and smooth around a golf course and through the gated community. Registration will be $50 and go up to $55 on race day.
Race packets may be picked up starting at 7:00 am on race day with the 5k beginning at 8:00 am. Participants for the 1 Mile will leave the starting line at 8:10 am and post-race activities will begin at 9:30 am. Some of these activities will include music, food trucks, vendors, and a 50/50 raffle.
Other activities will include a Car Show which will be open to classic cars, sports cars, trucks and motorcycles. A Chili Cook off will be free to taste and free to enter. Entry fee for the Golf Cart decorating contest will be $10. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their holiday best and walk the red carpet to compete for prizes in the free Holiday Costume Contest.
Winners of holiday contests like these often have pictures taken of their winning entries. These photos are often taken to local print shops to be added to family Christmas newsletters.
