One-man band to play Chandler
A musician who is literally a one-man band is set to appear in Chandler.
MG Bailey is from Chicago, where he performs frequently at venues from classic Chicago clubs to private parties. Known for his good-natured delivery and interaction with his audiences, Bailey has blended soul, pop, blues, and punk throughout his career, often using unconventional instruments to do so. Bailey’s last band dissolved in 2008, so he took the opportunity to take apart and reassemble instruments, sometimes using duct tape. He also experimented with looping and electronic music for about 18 months, but he kept thinking about a street musician he had seen 10 years earlier in Memphis. The man was performing on the legendary Beale Street, playing drums, a handmade guitar, and a bucket. Bailey wanted to create this type of organic sound and began using found objects, adding or deleting parts of his setup as his experiments succeeded or failed.
