Fundraiser for charity scheduled in Chandler

An upcoming charity fundraiser will give supporters a chance to enjoy a round of golf and support a worthy cause at the same time.

After being cancelled last year, Believe Beyond Ability has announced the return of its annual charity golf event. The tournament is a shotgun start and organizers announce that “best ball” will be played. A shotgun start means that all golfers will tee off at the same time, though each group will start from a different hole. The name comes from the fact a shotgun used to be fired to start play – a practice no longer used.

Best ball refers to the way a tournament is played. Each player hits their own ball, but only the best score in the whole team is recorded. The team with the lowest score wins.

Believe Beyond Ability works with people who have multiple disabilities. The organization helps to train these individuals to use assistive technology that will allow them to increase their independence and access daily living activities. Assistive technology is a broad term that includes rehabilitative, adaptive, and assistive devices. It also refers to the process of selecting and learning to use such devices. People who use these devices often find they can perform tasks they were previously unable to accomplish.

The tournament is set for September 25 at the Lone Tree Golf Club. Events like this are a perfect place for attendees to exchange Business Cards.
