Concert in Chandler on the schedule

Live music is returning to Chandler in a tribute to one of the music industry’s most influential artists.

Los Chicos del 512 is a tribute band for Selena, a singer/songwriter whose accomplishments led Billboard magazine to name her 1990’s best-selling Latin artist. She is generally credited with bringing Latin music into the mainstream.

The group comprises musicians who have loved and played Selena’s music for years. Fans themselves, the group wanted to recreate a Selena concert for her fans, giving them the opportunity to enjoy the closest experience possible to an actual performance.

The group’s lead singer is Keila Martinez, whose career began in school where she played trumpet in the marching band, and in Mariachi Gadsden, where she played violin and sang. Keyboards are handled by Ricardo Madrid, who has been in the music industry for more than 20 years.

Martin Peralta, a 20-year veteran of the music business, is on guitar and does the arrangements. Jesus Cordova is on bass and has been playing since 1993.

Jimmy Arce is the percussionist, and Mario Hernandez is on drums. Arce has performed in both the United States and Mexico and plays both jazz and Latin music. Hernandez has also played in both countries and is a member of several different bands.

A review says:

“Tribute well done with style.”

Los Chicos del 512 will be at the Chandler Center for the Arts on August 14. Poster printing is often used to advertise events like this.
