Chandler water race to be just ducky

A water race that will boast a special twist will be held for the first time in Chandler, and the proceeds will be used to provide some care for the city’s homeless animals.

A group that dubbed itself “The East Side Elves” has organized a rubber duck race, and these tiny toys will be racing around the Lazy River at the Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center. There will be 1,500 ducks available, and individuals and businesses can sponsor as many as they wish.

The listing for the occasion explained that the purchasers of the first three of the ducks to reach the finish line will receive a prize, and these start at $1,000 in gift cards. It went on to say that at least 1,000 of them will need to be sponsored for the race to take place. Those who wish to purchase one will have to be at least 18 years of age.

The funds raised through this activity will be used to provide assistance to homeless pets in Maricopa County so they can have a second chance. A banner printing company will be able to prepare Banners for a race’s finish line, as well as marketing materials to post throughout a community.

The East Side Elves has planned this special fundraiser for October 29. It will begin at 11:30 am.
