An event that combines the spookiness of Halloween with the excitement of learning something new in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subject area is on the horizon for local families.
The Chandler Nature Center will be exploring the science behind many of the activities and other fun that have become Halloween traditions. The hope is that this will spark an interest in the world around them among the attendees, and it will be led by a member of the City of Chandler Parks and Recreation Department who has experience working with children and youth.
The kids in the workshop will discover some of the tricks of the trade used at the haunted houses often on offer during the spooky season, and everyone is encouraged to enter the spirit of the activity by wearing their costume. They can also take part in some hands-on science experiments available.
Libraries, museums and other cultural and science centers in a community often choose to host Halloween-themed events in the fall. Activity sheets and small Promotional Products to use as trick-or-treat items can be ordered from area printers.
This spooky Saturday morning has been planned for October 29. It will begin at 10:30 am, and it is intended for kids from ages 6 to 13. The fee to participate starts at $9.
