What's Happening in Chandler, AZ…

A special event may find Chandler going to the dogs.

The city is hosting Woofstock, where Very Important Pooches (VIP)s, and their owners can enjoy pet-centered activities and vendors in Tumbleweed Park. People are encouraged to enter their dogs in a pet photo contest.

Various vaccines, registration, and microchipping will be available at reduced rates from Compassionate Animal Care, as long as their supplies last. Another important service, trimming nails, will be offered free of charge by the MCC Vet Tech Club.

Expert dog trainer Neal Mestas of Dog Training Elite will be available as well. Mestas offers different types and levels of training, depending on the needs of each owner and animal, and what sort of obedience, commands, and training the pet “parent” wants for their dog. He is assisted in his work by Bailey, a Belgian Malinois, who accompanies him to clients' homes to help train the owner's dogs. Mestas will be doing training demonstrations at the event.

Visitors can also watch dogs enjoy themselves on a “lure course” run by Brittany Rescue AZ, during which a dog chases a “lure” as it navigates agility obstacles. Another demonstration will come from the Blazin' K9s FlyBall Racing Team, which will demonstrate the sport of flyball.

Woofstock is set for November 21, at Tumbleweed Park, from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm. Flyer printing can provide handouts listing the vendors and attractions at events like this.
