A new Take on Chandler

An acclaimed musical group will be in Chandler soon, putting their “Take” on the city.

The a capella sextet known as Take 6 formed in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1980, on the Oakwood College campus. The group blends jazz with spiritual lyrics, and has received Dove Awards, Grammy Awards, a Soul Train Award, and was nominated for the NAACP Image Award. The group has worked with some of the music industry’s biggest stars including Stevie Wonder, Queen Latifah, k.d. lang, Don Henley, and Ray Charles. The band membership has changed over the years, but the group has been performing continuously since 1985.

A review of one of their live performances says that Take 6 is

“a flawless technical wonder who manage to pull off blazing vocal acrobatics each night without ever dropping a note.”

Members of the group take turns as the leading vocalist. The review concludes that Take 6 is a “must-see” group that proves there are no limits to what can be achieved by the human voice.

Take 6 will be at the Chandler Center for the Arts on the evening of Friday, February 21. The doors open at 7.30 pm. Poster printing can be used to create advertising when this type of event is scheduled, allowing music fans in the area to become aware of what is happening.
