Restaurant back in business after brief closure
As the weather improves, Casa Grande residents are welcoming return of favorite restaurant and ice cream vendor.
For almost four decades, locals stopped at the Dairy Queen at Marshall Street and Florence Boulevard to buy ice cream to cool off in the sweltering heat, or to have a family dinner, before its recent closure. The shop reopened March 23, however, with people lining up to order their favorite ice cream treats and other goodies.
The DQ was owned by the Steinhoff family throughout its duration. The family wrote to the local paper, explaining that they had to close because of financial difficulties, but they were trying to find a way to keep the operation going. Now, the store is owned by Trenco LLC, which owns another Casa Grande DQ, as well as several Subway sandwich shops.
Fans of the chain who were worried there would be changes to the menu can rest assured that no major alterations are planned, though one minor change has been made – the location will not be serving the shrimp basket, because the chain will not permit it.
Fidel Reina is the store manager, and he says business was great the first night, and has been getting better every day.
Reina might consider working with a poster printing company to create posters to herald the return and post them throughout the downtown area.
