Childrens play opens casting call in Casa Grande

Disney’s 101 Dalmatians Kids is the latest play from the BlackBox Foundation in Casa Grande.

Though the final show will be happening in December, the casting call for child actors ages 7-12 begins in early October.

Based on the beloved Disney franchise of the same name, the play centers on villain Cruella De Vil and the 101 black-and-white dogs that she covets. Featuring a fully orchestrated score, the stage adaptation centers on pet owners Roger and Anita. Their lives in a quiet part of London get turned upside down when their dalmatians, Pongo and Perdita, have a litter of puppies.

At first, all is well, with Pongo and Perdita’s devotion to their puppies holding the family together. However, Cruella De Vil, Anita’s old classmate, soon steals the pups for herself, with the help of her dim-witted henchmen, in order to make a fur coat. Now, it’s up to the entire dog population of London to pull of a daring rescue.

The casting call for 101 Dalmatians Kids is held on October 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call backs will be held on October 5 from noon to 2 p.m. Both auditions are being held at the BlackBox Foundation at 407 N Sacaton in Casa Grande.
