Learn glass craft in Casa Grande

Casa Grande’s Casita Workshop is hosting glass craft classes for beginners this July.

On July 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the first workshop will focus on creating fused glass sea wave art pieces. The 8-inch pieces, inspired by the ocean, incorporate colorful pieces of glass and fused ceramic.

Using layering techniques, the pieces are created to simulate an ocean wave, with all the materials included. Kiln firing will also be provided.

The second workshop, held on July 11 from 9 a.m. to noon, focuses on creating fused glass coasters. Each unique 4-inch by 4-inch coaster will be designed by students using similar materials to the previous workshop: colored glass and frit.

Ornamental flair can also be added to the coasters to create everything from flowery designs to abstract pieces. All materials, including kiln firing, are once again included.

The workshops are open to students 18 years of age and older. In each case, the finished pieces can be picked up about one week after the class is held. Both classes are taught by Erin Warner.

The Fused Glass Sea Wave class on July 7 costs $85, while the Fused Glass Coaster class on July 11 costs $90.
