A casting call is set to take place is Casa Grande for the upcoming Black Box Theatre production of Beetlejuice Jr The Musical.
Beetlejuice Jr. is based on the hit Broadway show, which itself is an adaptation of the beloved 1988 film Beetlejuice directed by Tim Burton.
The original film focuses on a couple who have recently died. As ghosts, they must navigate the topsy-turvy world of the afterlife. When they make an alliance with a trickster spirit named Beetlejuice, they get more than they bargained for. Meanwhile, the family who recently moved into the couple’s old house — including gothic teen Lydia Deetz — must now contend with being haunted as part of Beetlejuice’s spirit-for-hire antics. The musical places a greater emphasis on Lydia as a character than the film does.
As for the upcoming Black Box Theatre’s production, the age range for the casting call is 13-19.

The vocal auditions for Beetlejuice Jr. will take place on August 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and call backs will take place on August 24 from noon to 2 p.m.. Children who are applying should be prepared to sing, dance and perform monologues. The show will then run beginning in November at the Black Box Theatre at 407 N Sacaton in Casa Grande.
