Casa Grande is debuting a new community musical called Parade at the Blackbox Foundation.
The director, cast and crew have all been announced. The director/musical director is Pamela Karpelenia, the choreographer is Krisenna Zipporah, the tech director is Emmi Rakoci, costumes by Marley Parrott, make-up by Mary Rokoci and graphic design by Janice Green.
In terms of the cast, the musical stars Emma Mikkelsen as Lucille Frank, Sebastian Gardner as Leo Frank, Briendel Tambe-Ebot as Jim Conley, Mylee Renae as Mary Phagan, Mason Feliciano as Frankie Epps, SJ Martin as Hugh Dorsey, Brady Day as Britt Craig, Eldon Flores as Gov John Slaton, Berry Ludlow as Tom Watson, Nicholas Teti as Judge Roan and many others. Mary Rakoci and Milio F. Arianna Hobson are also part of the featured ensemble.
Parade originally premiered on the national stage in 1998 and traces the real-life 1913 trail of Leo Frank, a Jewish man who was accused and convicted of murder in Georgia, only to receive a pardon after his death, years later. The Tony-award-winning musical saw a revival on Broadway in 2023.
Theatrical performances like this may choose to use flyer printing to spread the word around town.
Performances for Parade run from July 11-13 and from July 18-20 at the Blackbox Foundation in Casa Grande at 407 N Sacaton St.
