Resource Center opens in Casa Grande

A new center to help those who are homeless, or facing homelessness, recently opened its doors in Casa Grande.

The CGHELPS Resource Center is an innovative facility that hopes to be a “one-stop shop” for its clients. Mary Lou Rosales, who is the executive director of the Community Acton Human Resources Agency, says that often pride gets in the way of people asking for help, saying she has seen people cry when describing their situation.

Rosales believes the CGHELPS center will perhaps be more user-friendly than a larger facility where there are many people. The new center is located on East Sixth Street, inside the Peart Center. It will offer assistance to the near-homeless, as well as those already experiencing homelessness.

The near-homeless may include those people who lose their job or get sick, and then find it difficult to pay their rent or other bills. She notes that people who live in subsidized housing can be evicted if they can’t pay their utility bills. Managers of facilities like this can use logo design to develop a unique logo for the center.

In addition to financial support, the center will have a nurse on-site to provide basic medical care, classes in English connections to employment programs, programs to help with behavioral health issues, and basic goods such as shoes, clothing, and food, among others. A case manager will be assigned to each individual.
