Community Medical Services (CMS) recently announced it has opened a unit in Casa Grande, near Florence Boulevard and I-10.
The clinic, which is one of many CMS operates throughout the country, is designed to help people grappling with addiction.
Opening the unit now meets a need, as the opioid epidemic continues to grow. Opioids are prescription drugs usually used in pain management, and include things like codeine, morphine, and oxycodone, more familiar under its trade name, Oxycontin. Recently, addiction to these prescription drugs has been growing, until the National Institutes for Health/National Institute on Drug Abuse has referred to an “epidemic.”
Haley Horton of CMS says that it can be difficult to find effective treatment for the disorder, particularly in rural areas. Statistics have shown that Casa Grande has more opioid overdoses than other localities, so the clinic is needed.
CMS uses Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to help their patients. This course of treatment uses medication to help ease the mental, physical, and emotional symptoms of withdrawal, which can be painful. In addition to medication, CMS offers peer support and counseling, and the clinics work closely with local medical providers. After a year of treatment, 90% of CMS patients repeatedly test negative for opiate use.
Facilities like this might consider working with a brochure printing company to create a booklet that describes their services and amenities.
