The Kiwanis Club of Casa Grande celebrated the occasion of National Library Week by learning about the programs available at the Casa Grande Libraries.
These include Makerspace, which is a do-it-yourself area of the library equipped for exploration of science, the arts, and technology.
In Makerspace, patrons will find a number of technological devices and tools, including iMacs, Lego, and sewing machines. The items provided are designed to help library visitors invent, create, and learn anything that interests them, from painting, to robotics, to sewing. Makerspace classes are taught by experts to interested community residents. Among the most intriguing are 3D printing and video game design.
Amber Kent and David Brown, both librarians, gave a presentation to the Kiwanis Club explaining Makerspace and the other programs that can be found at the libraries in Casa Grande during National Library Week, which was observed April 10 to 14. They also mentioned that this summer, the libraries are offering a reading program for both adults and children. Volunteers are needed by the libraries, as are people who might like to teach classes.
Library system officials might like to work with a flyer printing company on a mailer for community residents. They could explain the programs offered this summer and all year round, emphasizing the need for volunteers and class instructors.
