Fishy event underway in Casa Grande
A popular Casa Grande event is back with even more opportunities to tell fish stories.
The Catfish Rodeo returns for the 40th year, in a different format—it will last for an entire month instead of just one day. The rodeo is specifically for young fishermen and women 17 years of age and under, who are encouraged to spend some time outdoors having fun. They may fish whenever they prefer, and then send a photo of their fish in order to be entered into a random drawing for a prize, which may be a tackle box, water bottle, fishing equipment, or gift card.
In order to be considered, participants need to have themselves and their fish photographed at the designated sign, which is located in the park. They should include their phone number, age, and name, and only one entry is allowed per child.
For everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience, health guidelines are in place. These including wearing masks and maintaining a safe distance from others. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts for participants in events like this.
The Rodeo is ongoing through the entire month of April; it runs through April 30 and is taking place at Dave White Park. On certain dates, the city will cover the price of the fishing license. Upcoming dates include April 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25. For anyone age 10 and above, a valid state license is required.
