Country music celebration coming to Casa Grande
Entertainer and singer Larry King is bringing his show ‘Legends of Country Music’, to the Paramount Theatre in Casa Grande, on two separate dates.
King's show is more than a recital, though the evening features 20 or more country songs, including classics from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s by such artists as Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, George Straight, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash.
In addition, an announcer tells the audience what was happening at the time a song was popular, thus mixing music with history. Connecting the songs to the events current at the time brings the entire era alive, and gives the audience an understanding of the sacrifices these artists made to follow their dreams.
A seven-piece band performs the numbers, with the announcer adding tidbits of history, as well as snippets of information about the piece itself, such as when a particular tune was recorded, where it was on the charts, and how long it held onto the top spot.
The ‘Legends of Country Music’ show comes to the Paramount this evening, but an encore performance is taking place on March 13 for those who have missed out on tonight’s show. When notable shows come round, theater management will often consider creating colorful banners to hang throughout the space to draw attention to them.
