The Casa Grande area takes great pride in its agricultural community, and one of the products grown in the local region will be the star of the show during a festival in early 2024.
The area is getting ready for the Wuertz Farm Gourd Festival, which celebrates these popular members of the Cucurbitaceae plant family. They have been used to make everything from bird houses to musical instruments, water jugs and works of art, and many types are also edible.
The festivities will take place at the Pinal Fairgrounds and Event Center. The two days will feature everything from gourd-inspired art to crafts, entertainment, a gourd art competition, as well as classes and demonstrations. Food trucks will be parked at the venue, and there will be thousands of dried gourds on display to view and purchase.
At the time of writing, there is still space available for additional small businesses to set up shop. Local companies that feel the festival is a good fit for them are encouraged to submit an application to take part. Business card printing and other marketing services for any size of business will be on offer at area Print shops.
The 2024 Wuertz Gourd Festival will be celebrating these versatile crops from Friday, February 2 to Sunday, February 4. More details are available on the farm's website.
