Casa Grande is once again holding its annual event for Dia de Los Niños, or International Children’s Day Celebration, at the Paul Mason Sports Complex this spring.
The event is aimed at creating “a joyful and enriching experience for children and families,” organizers said. Activities include live entertainment, a variety of local food to choose from, a unique children’s market and craft stations.
The Dia de Los Niños event has been an annual celebration in Casa Grande since 2023. However, it has been a tradition in Mexico since 1925. In years past, the Case Grande event has included designated play areas for younger children, photo booths, informational kiosks, food trucks and inflatable play structures.
Community events like these may utilize banner printing to clearly mark their location.
In 1996, author and poet Pat Mora conceived of Dia de Los Niños, taking inspiration from the Mexican tradition known as Dia del Niño, and selecting the same date for celebration, the last day of April.
The Dia de Los Niños event is happening on Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., an earlier time of day than in years past. It is happening at the Paul Mason Sports Complex inside Ed Hooper Park in Case Grande at 2525 N Pinal Ave. Parking is free and the main entrance to the event is located at Pinal Avenue and Rodeo Road.
