For the 12th year in a row, audiences in Casa Grande enjoyed hearing Handel's famous oratorio, “The Messiah,” performed live.
The traditional performance, given this year on December 14 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Casa Grande Stake Center, was another successful rendering of the seasonal classic.
Audience members commented on the professionalism of the performance, which included an ensemble comprising 100 chorus members, musicians, and soloists. Marilyn Cooper-Lunt, who is one of the founders of the performance, as well as a director and soloist, says first-time visitors in particular were surprised and pleased at the level of talent and skill displayed by the performers.
Cooper-Lunt gives credit for the evening's success to a core group of dedicated veterans who have performed in various productions of ‘The Messiah’ for years. New talented musicians and singers come to join the group every year, where they are mentored by the older, more polished performers.
Cooper-Lunt singled out two performers, David Williams and Tom Beckett, who have been with the group since the beginning, and praised them for their dedication. They, and perhaps another 25 people, form the nucleus of the group.
Cooper-Lunt and other group leaders might consider working with poster printing companies to create colorful, inviting display Posters for next year's performance and highlighting the success of previous events.Get a Free Quote for Posters
