Casa Grande Independence Day celebrated with sporting event

The sport of competitive shooting will be on offer in Casa Grande for Independence Day celebrations, thanks to a two-day event held by Casa Grande Trap and Skeet.

Over the weekend, multiple contests will take place, including 100 singles and 100 handicap, with the rules governed by the Amateur Trapshooting Association. The scores will be officially recorded, and lunch will be available on both days of the event, included in the ticket price. Each contest will use the Canterbury voice call system, and White Flyer clay targets with a green top will be thrown.

Trap shooting and skeet shooting are sports where the competitors use a shotgun to target clay objects in motion in what began as a bird hunting simulation.

The Casa Grande Trap and Skeet club has a long history of hosting competitive shooting events, with new ownership taking over back in 2007. The Volz family owners are multi-generational trap and skeet shooters. Over the past few years, significant renovations and upgrades were made to the facility, with the addition of new Pat Traps, and 5 Stand and Skeet. They also host the Arizona Winter Chain.

Competitive shooting events like these may choose to use banner printing to create practice targets.

The Casa Grande Trap and Skeet will host its shoot celebrating America’s Independence Day on July 5 and July 6, beginning at 8:00 am each day, at 8015 S Isom Rd in Casa Grande.
