Casa Grande in for a green April
Casa Grande is solving the problem of what to do with those waste products that cannot be thrown away by holding two recycling events, both on April 19.
Getting rid of worn out electronics can be a major problem, but the city’s Sanitation Division can help solve it. It is hosting the E-Cycle event from 7.30 am to 12 noon on the aforementioned date at Carr McNatt Park. The park is located at 1115 North Brown Avenue.
Among the items that will be accepted for recycling are keyboards, flat-screen monitors, printers, copiers, televisions (flat screens only), VCRs, cell phones, and DVD players. No lightbulbs of any kind can be accepted, and nor can refrigeration units that still have Freon in them. Those that no longer have Freon can be recycled, however.
The second recycling event of the day is the Casa Grande Youth Commission’s annual Day of Shredding. The event runs from 9:00 am to noon at First American Credit Union, located at 1001 North Pinal Avenue. The commission will shred any unwanted documents safely, and then recycle the paper. They will shred up to five boxes free of charge, but any amount over that will require a small fee.
City officials could work with a poster printing company to create items to display throughout the city giving information about the events.
