An event scheduled in Casa Grande promises to be a lot of fun, and the organizer refuses to take things too seriously.
Edna Harris is offering her “Artsy Fartsy Art Collage Class,” a class in mixed media where students will be advised as they combine embellishments, watercolor, and canvas. All skill levels are welcome to attend, but session is for those age 16 and older.
There are two options for supplies; people can bring their own, or purchase paints and a brush kit for $12. Those who are bringing their own paints will need New Gamboge, Alizarin, Prussian, and Sap Green watercolors, along with a mid-size round brush. Most of the necessary tools will be provided, though people are encouraged to bring small tools they may have. All embellishments will also be provided.
Students will be taught watercolor techniques at a basic level, and go on to create either one or two works of art. They will then choose one to mount on a canvas panel and add embellishments to it. The result is a flat piece of art with dimensional embellishments. Students will go home with one varnished piece, 6”x6”, and can hang it immediately. Flyer printing can be used to create instruction sheets for events like this.
Everyone should bring a sack lunch; bottled water will be available.
The class is a full-day event and is set for August 23 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. The fee is $60.
