Four members of the police obtained awards because they saved the life of a man in Coatbridge. The individual was prevented from committing suicide.
The Scottish Police Federation Bravery Awards honoured constables Darren Connor, Chris Mains and Neil McBain. Mark Chivers, a sergeant who was involved in the response, also secured an award for his contribution to the teamwork under discussion. Organisers of awards ceremonies often use printing services in the build up to their events.
It was revealed that the public made several calls to the police about the unfortunate and dangerous situation. The courageous individuals had to show persistence to tackle the problem. The Scottish Police Federation’s chair, Andrea MacDonald, told the Daily Record:
“The actions shown by these officers that day were incredibly brave. They faced a dangerous and life-threatening situation, which could have ended very differently.”
Police Mutual is proud to sponsor the awards ceremony and its chief executive, Stephen Mann, made clear that the annual awards have become well-known since their establishment. Mann paid a highly generous tribute to all the award winners this time around.
Humza Yousaf, the current justice secretary, asked the four Coatbridge police officers to see him prior to the prestigious awards event. The men took the time to see him in Bute House, where a reception was held.
