Coatbridge engineering firm achieves generational milestone

An engineering firm in Coatbridge has achieved an impressive milestone, with the news that a third generation of the same family has joined it.

KRG Specialist Engineering was founded by James Hughes and he is still right at the heart of the company decades later. He was first joined by his son, Gerry Hughes, who worked his way up to the position of managing director. Now, a third generation of the Hughes family has entered the business, in the shape of grandson Ashton Hughes. The youngster will be starting out in an apprentice role.

The company was launched back in the late 1970s and was originally a small workshop operated by Hughes. It has since expanded to the point where it is among the leading precision engineering firms in the region. However, this latest news is proof that it has retained its family identity along the way.

Companies that are based in Coatbridge often look to other local services for items they need. One example is Print shops that supply Corporate Gifts that can be used to strengthen relationships with clients.

Speaking to the Scotsman, Gerry Hughes stated that he was extremely proud. He added:
“My father started this company more than 45 years ago, and to see Ashton now step into the business shows the strength of that legacy.”

Ashton Hughes will receive his training in the firm’s workshop.
