The Time Capsule is a centre on Buchanan Street. It has received financing to the tune of £2.5 million, which will be used to enhance the facilities. Among the new activities that will be added are a “clip ‘n climb” arena and a themed tipping bucket game. The Time Capsule is already home to many popular attractions, including a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a water park and an ice-skating rink.
The last of those looked set to be scrapped until recently. North Lanarkshire Council was thinking about turning it into padel courts. The feeling was that this would increase visitor numbers, but there were vociferous protests from ice hockey teams and fans of ice skating in Coatbridge. This led the council to drop the idea.

According to BBC News, Geraldine Woods from the council said:
“The Time Capsule has been at the heart of leisure and family life in North Lanarkshire for more than 30 years, and this investment demonstrates our commitment to its future.”
Other improvements will be made to the soft play section and the swimming pool surrounds.
