The company is headquartered in Fife. However, the move by Fishers could mean extra demand for Letterheads from Coatbridge printing firms. Michael Jones, the managing director of Fishers, has explained the thinking behind the decision:
“This is testament to Fishers’ confidence in the strength of the country’s growing hospitality industry and our continuing commitment to the sector. We’re looking forward to being able to locally serve Glasgow’s growing hotel market from our new laundry.”
The policy should have a significant economic impact on North Lanarkshire. David Fagan, a council official who has been tasked with regenerating the area, has welcomed the contribution of Fishers to the local economy. It will be the first new laundry in Scotland from the firm for many years.
The state-of-the-art unit is expected to create about 150 jobs. It has been revealed that the laundry should be open by December. However, it is not expected to be fully functional until March 2016.
Premier Inn is set to be among the premier customers of the laundry. It is thought that the facility will have the capacity to cope with four tonnes of washing each hour. At this rate, it should be able to deliver the goods for 12,000 hotel rooms.
