Lanarkshire welcomes summertime steam fair

A special fair celebrating the age of steam will be held this summer in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.

Dubbed the Friends of Summerlee Steam Fair, this special weekend event invites members of the public to witness a host of engineering treasures from the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life out on display. Galleries and museums across the UK can sometimes use banner printing services to create eye-catching advertisements to encourage attendance at outdoor events.

Attendees of the two-day festivities can appreciate a myriad of mechanical wonders on parade including the Coatbridge museum’s own fleet of steam-powered vehicles such as the Foster and Tigger engines and the Fowler road roller. Other visiting attractions that will be on site to celebrate Scotland’s industrial heritage include miniature steam train rides, steam traction engines and model engines, among others.

Visitors to the fair will also have the opportunity to learn more about the rich history behind the engineering masterpieces within the museum that was founded back in 1836. Constructed on the original site of the Summerlee Iron Works from the Victorian era, the museum has since undergone a £10 million development and features a wide range of interactive exhibits.

The steam fair will take place in and around Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life on Heritage way in Coatbridge on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9.
