Lanarkshire arts festival continues

Residents of Lanarkshire have had the chance to encounter some real culture throughout October, with the local arts and culture festival offering a variety of activities, performances and talks to suit all tastes.

Encounters, the cultural festival for North Lanarkshire, is being held at venues around the region throughout October. So far, the programme of events for Encounters has involved drama workshops, art exhibitions and photography talks. The programme is packed with events right up until the end of October and so residents or visitors still have time to experience what’s on offer.

A full brochure has been printed giving details of the events available at Encounters and these Brochures can be picked up free of charge at local libraries. Festivals like this one often produce programmes or Brochures to help drum up the support of local people and to generate excitement about up-coming events, often enlisting the help of local brochure printers.

The Encounters Cultural Festival has been produced with support and financial backing from a number of sources, including Motherwell Football Club, The Open University and The National Lottery via Creative Scotland. The festival looks set to raise awareness of and interest in the arts – whether this is in creative writing, film making, painting or something else, by giving people first-hand experience of culture.

Coatbridge’s own Summer Lee Museum is the home of creative writing and photography workshops as part of the festival. More information about Encounters can be found by collecting a brochure or visiting the council website.
