Irn-Bru sales could have been affected by the weather
The manufacturer of Irn-Bru has warned that its profits might have been affected by recent meteorological conditions.
After a period of less-that-expected profits, AG Barr has announced the intention of returning to growth next year. Promotional Drinkware from Coatbridge may be used as part of the evolving corporate strategy. The chief executive for the organisation, Roger White has said:
“The business is responding well to the market challenges but the weather since we last updated the market in July has been poor and, although we have recovered some sales momentum, it is not yet at the run rate we have targeted.”
Mr. White has stressed that the first six months of 2015 were a difficult period for the company. He has mentioned that even a strong performance during the Christmas period is unlikely to contribute to an immediate turnaround. However, more investment in a facility at Cumbernauld could reap rewards.
It has been announced that £5 million is to be spent on improving the plant in Cumbernauld. The North Lanarkshire facility will then have the capacity to produce its range of drinks in glass bottles more swiftly than it currently does. This development could help to address the gap left by the fact that the firm no longer produces Orangina or Finlays water. In addition, it has been reported that the company has also elected to invest in upgrading its IT solutions.
