Health centre launch is a success in Airdrie

A brand new health centre was opened recently in Airdrie, providing residents with state-of-the-art facilities.

The centre, which built at a cost of £1m, was opened by Alex Neil, the local MSP, at the end of June. He said:

"This health centre will absolutely revolutionise health care in Airdrie. Already we are seeing a massive difference in the last year since this place opened. When you look at the facilities which were well past their sell-by date, what this represents is 21st century health care in Airdrie."

The MSP went on to say how important the new building would be to the area’s residents and that by improving the standard of healthcare, the standard of living is sure to rise.

Eight GP practices will be housed within the new building, which is among the biggest in Scotland. As well as offering new standards of care, health centres like this often rely on members of the community to educate themselves on a number of issues by engaging with leaflets and Posters that are distributed around health centres.

Printed material warning people to check for symptoms of cancer or explaining how to get in touch with the emergency services could save lives – no mean feat for something that was created using traditional poster printing.

Coatbridge and Airdrie residents can find out more about the new healthcare centre by visiting the facility itself, which is located on Graham Street. Services offered at the centre include dentistry and physiotherapy among others.
